What We Do

Restoration Spotlight

Editorial Long-Reads

Critical analysis, oral histories, and craft-focused interviews that treat film as art form rather than content.

Cinephile Screenings

Members-only theatrical screenings, post-film discussions, and curated director retrospectives in our dark rooms.

Director Roundtables

Live conversations with working filmmakers, cinematographers, and editors on the practical realities of their craft.

Archival Database

Searchable catalogue of films, crew histories, festival records, and restoration lineages spanning a century of cinema.

How We Work

Curate

Our editorial team selects films based on craft, lineage, and cultural weight — never algorithmic noise.

Contextualize

Every feature ships with essay, interview, or archival material that deepens the viewing experience.

Screen

Members gather in theatres or in private streaming rooms for the actual act of focused watching.

Discuss

Post-screening dialogues with directors, critics, and fellow members turn viewing into study.

What People Say

Phantom Movie treats cinema the way a print journal treats literature. It is the most serious film publication I read.

Adrienne Voss — Film Critic, Sight & Sequence

The restoration series alone is worth the membership. I have discovered three new favorite filmmakers this year.
