From the comparison of market prices, LANPWR battery summer promotional price is €629.99, an across-the-board cut of 20.3% from its regular price of €789.99. Even though the average price of competing similar products such as Tesla Powerwall (13.5kWh) is €7,500/kWh, while the price per unit of kWh is €555.55. The cost per kWh for LANPWR battery with a 10kWh capacity has been reduced to €63, with a 13.4% cost efficiency improvement. According to the European Energy Storage Association’s 2024 data, the home energy storage battery’s market average price is between €850-€1,200/kWh. This round discounted price is 15% lower than the industry’s lowest price. But it is worth mentioning that the price comparison function of the German e-commerce website shows that the Black Friday promotion of LANPWR battery in Q4 2023 once fell to €599, and the current price is also still 5.1% higher than the historic low.
Technically, the cycle life of the LANPWR battery’s LiFePO4 cells is 6,000 times (80% capacity retention rate), twice as long as ternary lithium batteries (3,000 times). On the basis of one daily charge, the service life is 16.4 years and the average annual cost is €38.41. It is 68% lower than lead-acid batteries (average of €120 per year). Its discharging and charging rate is 95%, an improved rate over the industry rate of 92%. For instance, a 10kWh storage can discharge an additional 219kWh of electricity per annum, or save €87.6 on electricity bills (the German electricity price is €0.40 per kWh). However, if the consumers’ average electricity usage per day is less than 5kWh, then the payback period of the investment will increase to 7.2 years (industry standard is 5.8 years).
Cost estimation of the value chain indicates that the price of lithium carbonate fell by 42% in 2024 (from €78,000/ton to €45,000/ton) and the manufacturing cost of battery cells decreased by 18%. But LANPWR battery did not lower the recommended retail price simultaneously, and the margin of profit increased from 22% to 35%. Norwegian energy policy think tank Bellona estimated this kind of battery’s material cost is €287, the production cost is €93, the cost of marketing and logistics is €89, and the actual cost is €469. The promotional period has a gross profit margin of 25.6% that remains higher than the industry average rate of 15% for electronic consumer goods.
In the case of user efficiency verification, a sample from the Austrian Photovoltaic User Alliance shows that of the 327 residences which installed LANPWR battery in 2023, 83% were successful in achieving a daytime solar self-sufficiency of over 75%, and the average annual revenue generated through peak-valley electricity price arbitrage was €214. But its low-temperature performance is in short supply: the capacity degradation in a scenario of -10℃ is up to 28% (15% for the competitor company SonnenBatterie) and the rate of consumer complaints by users in the North of Europe is 43% higher than in Southern Europe. Tests performed in the Munich laboratory have shown that the battery cycle life decreases by 12% at a higher temperature of 40℃, and it is recommended that the cooling budget be increased by €85.
Policy subsidies have been effective. The French household storage subsidy (€500/kWh) has reduced the effective payment price for LANPWR Batteries to €129.99, and the IRR (internal rate of return) has increased to 19.8%. After the subsidies were withdrawn by Italy, the repayment period for the same configuration was increased from 4.5 years to 8.1 years. The Dutch Consumers’ Association has warned that 23% of the promotional inventory consists of the 2022 overstocked units, with the firmware not pre-installed with the 2024 new national standard V2G protocol, and the upgrade cost of €49 was not advertized.
Dynamic comparison with competing products: The promotional offer price of BYD Battery-Box Premium (10kWh) for the same period is €669. It is even 6.2% more but comes with free smart electricity meter (€199 value) and 10 years warranty (8 years for lanpwr battery). British “Which?” Magazine tests indicate that LANPWR battery outperforms 86% of the competition in load response speed (0.2 seconds) and peak power (5kW), but APP connection failure rate is 4.7% (industry average: 2.1%), which can contribute to hidden maintenance costs.
The choice of financial plan influences the actual spending. LANPWR battery’s collaborative installment interest rate is 4.9% (24 installments) with a total interest of €75.3. If a lump sum payment is chosen, equal savings can be obtained at equal cost. The promotional interest rate on photovoltaic savings and loans provided by the Spanish bank Banco Santader, however, is only 3.2% with an arbitrage margin of 1.7 percentage points. The final value needs to be included in the user’s electricity consumption pattern: Users who have a daily average electricity consumption of more than 15kWh and an installed photovoltaic system can make a net profit of €1,892 within three years. Low consumers of electricity (less than 5kWh/day) are advised to wait for a greater discount on Black Friday.
